Downloadable Packets of Background Fill Patterns
Focus on filling your quilt backgrounds with edge to edge, large scale fill patterns or use tiny patterns to fill the background around previously stitched motifs, often referred to as stipples. Joanie has developed many innovative background fill patterns for longarm and home machine quilters. She divided them into categories for these packets of patterns that use both follow a marked line or free-form patterns. Once you learn how to stitch a shape, you can determine which projects you may wish to stitch free-form, without marking, and which projects you wish to mark patterns for a more formal result.
- Straight or gently curving lines using a walking foot attachment in conjunction with the feed dogs engaged to evenly feed all layers under the needle, necessitating the bundle be rotated at turns.
- Free-motion with feed dogs lowered and darning foot attached. You control the stitch length and direction of the stitching line. Stitch straight or curved lines in any direction without rotating bundle.
